Thank you!

A huge thank you to all our Friends and Supporters who have helped to make this such a good year for Chimwemwe.

The skills centre is progressing (red-tape in Malawi is, as ever, slowing progress) and the kids are enjoying a Christmas dinner today.

All of the kids are doing well, but I'm especially delighted to tell you that Chifundo has come 1st in his class in recent exams and that Nicholas has an apprenticeship in tailoring.

Thank you again for all your support. Without it, these kids would still be on the streets and out of education and facing a bleak life of poverty. With your help, they have hopes and aspirations for a brighter future.

Thank you!!

Charity auction for Chimwemwe

The fabulous people over at Philofaxy are auctioning a gold Filofax, incredibly kindly donated by the excellent folks over at Filofax, in aid of Chimwemwe Children's Centre. You can see the details here.

Chimwemwe Children's Centre are in the process of building and equipping a Skills Centre for the children to be able to do after-school events at, have space to do homework in, to read in, have a space to learn life skills in and get vocational training at, so that they are equipped to support themselves in the long run.

All money raised by the auction will go towards the Skills Centre and will help some of the poorest people in the world to break free from the cycle of poverty.

Thank you so much to Filofax and to Philofaxy for their incredible generosity.

A reminder about Easyfundraising

If you shop online with retailers like Amazon, Argos, Tesco and Marks and Spencer (amongst thousands of others), please help me raise money for Chimwemwe Children's Centre by doing it through easyfundraising.org.uk.

It works in a similar way to nectar, but instead of earning points, you raise money for Chimwemwe Children's Centre whenever you shop online. Over 3000 retailers will each donate up to 15% of the cost of your shopping.

It won't cost you a penny more to shop via easyfundraising.org.uk and by making this one small change to your shopping habits, you could make a big difference to Chimwemwe Children's Centre.

Plus, if you register before 1st March you'll automatically receive one entry into a free prize draw to win a Canon digital Camera plus accessories worth over £400 from Viking!

Thank you Philofaxy...

.. and all those readers who have helped Chimwemwe.

I did an update on the work at Chimwemwe for the wonderful folk at Philofaxy, which you can read here. The response to the piece has been tremendous and I am overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity the Philofaxy community has shown.

Thank you!!

The Kindness of Strangers

I have to thank Steve and all the guys over at Philofaxy for giving me the chance to raise awareness on Chimwemwe and the work we do. Steve kindly allowed me to post about Chimwemwe on the Philofaxy blog. You can read the post here.
I have never met Steve, or any of the other fantastically kind supporters of Chimwemwe who have learned about our work through Philofaxy - they are all strangers, though I think of them as friends. Their kindness though has helped to change the lives of some of the poorest children in the world and for that, I cannot thank them enough.
